Sake Paintings

Sake was born in 1988 and is an adult female California sea lion who is world-renowned for her work in a variety of movies, television shows and documentaries. She is, we believe, the best trained sea lion in the world. Sake learned to paint in December of 2005, and has created a variety of works of art since. Sake's paintings are one-of-a-kind because they depict actual items and landscapes (which most animal paintings do not). She was trained to paint by following a target point around the canvas while holding a paintbrush in her mouth. Her artwork showcases a true collaboration between trainer and animal. She also signs each painting with her signature red "S". Each of the paintings comes with a photograph of Sake painting it as a certificate of authenticity, and some of the artwork has already been framed. Below you will see the paintings that Sake has created, which are available for sale. The prices for Sake's paintings start at $400 and depend on content, difficulty of creation, and customization. If you see a painting that you like that is no longer available, we do offer customized paintings as an option. To learn more about Sake as an individual, please visit her webpage.
